Kabelwerk Oberspree by Claudio_DeSat

Between the 1890s and the 1990s, the Kabelwerk Oberspree (KWO) was a major industrial operation located on the right bank of the Spree, in Oberschöneweide. From 1945 to 1952, ownership was handed over to SAG - Sowjetische Aktiengesellschaft (Soviet Joint Stock Company). From 1952 to 1992, it was nationalised by the DDR as part of its monolithic industrial network VEB - Volkseigener Betrieb (Publicly Owned Operation). Next to the cable production, it housed Werk für Fernsehelektronik (WF), which produced electron tubes and semiconductors for TV. It is now mostly empty, although parts have been put to cultural use.
